Family Reunions

Does your family have family reunions? I am talking like family from all over meet at one place to be together for a day or weekend? What kind of special things do you do at the reunion?

We have a couple of family reunions every year. We have one at the same park every year. It is nice. We have lots of food. The kids play on the playground and play games. All the adults sit around and tell stories and catch up on all the family events. I used to think it was pretty boring but, since I have gotten older I see the importance of going and learning about your family history and just bonding with them. I like to hear all the stories of my grandparents when they were kids.

I was wondering if anyone goes to them or has ideas on things we could do at one?

My Family has huge family reunions every year. My dad's traced our bloodline back to a large clan of "The Birds" so for our family reunions we go all out. 400-500 people. Everybody brings a dish, a lawn chair or blanket to sit on, and tons of stories. Usually we rent out a state park for the day. Fishing Hiking Story Telling. It's a blast. And you can't forget the name tags, i still don't know half the people that come to these things. Last weekend we had a big "Almost 80" birthday party for my Great Uncle Jerry. We had a whole bunch of people from his side of the family. Volleyball is a must at any Bodary/ Klace function. People gather around the court to catch a glimpse of our hard-core action. [We've sent people to the hospital more than once] and if you're under the age of 13 theres a 10 foot boundary around the court. Well this turned into me talking about my family more then my giving advice, but i hope it helps!
