Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Posted 12th July 2007, mid-afternoon

So, has anyone seen the new HP? I liked it, but it's probably the weakest one since "Chamber of Secrets". It just felt so abridged... like they were jumping from plot point to plot point. There was very little time to spend with the characters -- and that time with Harry, Ron and Hermione is what I really loved about this series. What do you guys think?

I saw it last night and thought it was great. I really like the new director and the shots were incerdible. But you're right it was a little weak, especially compared to the chamber of secrets. Theres no way you can do the series justice without making each movie like 12 hours long. It's just not possible to fit in every minor detail. I'm not gunna lie i cried when black fell through arch way. **I think the director made an excelent choice in cutting the voice audio with Harry screaming. You could just feel the pain, and i think if he had left the screamm in it would have been really cheesy.**
To whom ever hasn't seen it yet. GO. Yes right now. It's worth the money.

I'm probably going to see it later today. I think they should've made extended versions that went more in-depth.

How about a television series where each episode is a chapter from the book? There would be 7 season, which is plenty for any show. Each episode could be a half an hour. Each season would be as long, chapter-wise, as each book. They could cover every plot point and the show would do well enough in ratings for them to afford the special effects needed. Granted they will have to get a whole new cast but that is fine with me (don't get me wrong, I love the current one). This should happen, but will it? Very unlikely.

My son and I went to see it this past Sunday. It was good but I didn't like it as much as the others. This one had little to no humor in it. I know it was supposed to be serious and all but it still could have used a bit of "comic relief".

I still remember the one where Ron was going on about the spiders. "Why does it have to be spiders?" "Why can't it be butterflies?" :)
